Teak Mouldings for Cape Dorys

Post by Duncan Maio »

Mystic Marine is the new unofficial supplier of replacement teak and other parts for Cape Dorys.

St. Angelo Hardwoods recently announced that they would no longer provide mouldings for Cape Dory boats. I have acquired (or anyway they are in the mail) the patterns for all the linear mouldings for Cape Dorys, and also St. Angelo's permission to tell the world that we are now providing mouldings for Cape Dorys.

I also know from personal experience that 20-year-old brightwork has been sanded and worn so much that the original shapes are not really relevant, especially for a repair.

So here's the deal. Mystic Marine is an itty bitty division of Mystic Millwork, which is a division of Mystic Scenic Studios, Inc. We are located in the back of a warehouse in Norwood, Massachusetts. We keep some long and short lengths of teak in stock, and we will make anything and ship it anywhere.

If you need a part replaced, you can send us the part, send a template, or call/e-mail and we will try to match what you need to the old St. Angelo patterns (if they ever show up).

We also have a full metal shop (stainless, aluminum, milling, etc.) paint shop (Imron, Awlgrip, etc.) and a graphics shop and, most importantly, the boss is a sailor and the General Manager owns a CD27.

Discounts are available in exchange for burgees, club t-shirts, and use of transient moorings in New England. Free delivery to Hingham, MA and Bristol, RI (when we are going sailing) and to Daytona Beach, FL (if we do the work in our Florida shop).

This is admittedly a sideline, but that also means that we can give you a good deal because we make our money on other stuff - museum exhibits, trade shows, and theme park attractions (that big Mickey hand at Epcot - that's us!).

We are still working on the website - for now, there is a link to the main company site.
