Thinking about hauling Renaissance up to Lake Champlain,
and was wondering how the wind conditions are mid-summer?
Worthwhile?

Re: Lake Champlain
We haven't sailed there in many years but Lake Champlain is realy nice. Winds are a bit challenging since the lake is in a valley between the Adirondacks and Green Mountains, as you get to the narrower sections wind may make significant abrupt direction changes. I would also warn you that storms can come up quickly with very little warning. Generally winds are light mid summer and a bit better for sailing Sept. and Oct.

I sailed on the lake for 10+ years. Been on it when it was like glass, ice, and throwing 4' chop. Great fun and as noted - wind to accommodate all occasions. If you've the time look up George Darling at his boatworks in Charlotte. Great guy and business if you need work done while there.

I can say this is a sweet spot to visit (by car or boat). Go for it.tartansailor wrote:Thinking about hauling Renaissance up to Lake Champlain,
