Cape Dory 7 1/2 Hull 129 Dink - more info on these boats?

Post by cddink »

I recently purchased an in good condition Cape Dory 7 1/2 DINK hull 129. It came complete with mast, sail and oars. I'm having a hard time finding more information about the boat, there were only a few mentions on this board. Does anyone know the approximate age of the boat (I'm guessing 1970 or so). I have not been able to find any brochures either on the boat.
I'm planning on using it for the rest of the summer, will upload some pictures when it's cleaned and rigged.

Thank you much!

I'm familiar with the 10s and the have a 14 but have not seen a 7.5. I have not seen any documentation of the 7.5s like the brochures for the 10 or 14s. Does yours have the CD builders plate like the rest of the CDs?
Am interested, will follow.

Might it be a Dyer Dinghy?

Cape Dory built 45 CD Dinks from 1971-1973.

Please send pictures.

Do you still own the Dink and would you be interested in selling it?

Thank you.

I have a sistership 7'6" dinghy built by Cape Dory, but it was built for Dick Eldridge, the designer of it and marketed by him. Cape Dory started to build it under the Cape dory name shortly after. Unfortunately, my spars are wood, and I suspect yours are aluminum, typical of the other CDY dinghy models.

Adding to what Dave Perry posted, Dick Eldridge is registered for the Northeast Fleet Cabin Fever Lunch on March 9, 2024 at Newick's Lobster House in Dover, New Hampshire. There is another topic on this forum with information to register.

Looking for any one selling a Dink (or sister ship / predessor).
