"Leoma" update 7/21/19
Windvane is working great. I sailed three days and never used the motor except anchoring and mooring. I thought I was doing so good till it came time to gybe the genoa. I got it all tangled up two wraps one direction and two wraps the other. I pulled the lower ones but had to start the motor and go in circles to get the upper wraps out. The guy behind me must have been laughing. He left the same cove about two hours after me and arrived at the harbor at the same time. I also noticed on Friday ,my neighbor in his Rawson 30 went whipping past me. But I was using the club jib. I might take another lesson. This time I will use the genoa and the whisker pole . I might look for a more advanced instructor. . The first guy might be good for another try. I think he is used to teaching kids in those little mosquito boats. He didn't charge me very much. Very little in fact. I'm having fun.!!!

Outstanding JD. I’m glad you are having fun.
In the top photo your whisker pole looks a little low on outboard end. See how the leech is tight and the foot curved? They should be evenly tensioned. Also, if the inboard end is on a sliding track then set the outboard end to get even tension on leech and foot and then raise the inboard end so the pole is perpendicular to the mast.
Happy to hear your Cape Horn is working well. You worked hard to get it working right. Well done.
Did you get another lesson? What do you think?

Thanks. I think the track on the mast is too high. I have it all the way down. I think it was set up fir that reaching strut that I gave away. Otherwise I dont see how to raise the outboard end Ill work on it. My boat is in the yard now. Ill be back out in a week or two. Oh maybe I need a topping lift

A topping lift is essential. That should help.
