Lifesling Dimensions

Post by Pembquist »

I want to make a copy of the ubiquitous Lifesling but I don't want to reinvent the wheel so I have a favor to ask. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the sling itself, (the fabric covered 3 segment flotation part.) I already have 150' of very nice double braid float rope, an an overflow of flotation foam, yards of miscellaneous yellow and orange pack cloth/cordura, lots of webbing etc.

Greetings,

Lifesling 2(apparently there are 2 versions) Cross section dimension 3.5 inches by 4.5 inches. Long sections are 20 inches and short section is 11 inches not including the fabric where it "hinges".
I just bought a new storage bag on sale for $50. The old one deteriorated in the sun. Two yards of sunbrella would have cost me about the same. If you have the talent to sew one up yourself you'll be ahead of the game.

I made up a replacement cover from canvas salvaged from the marina dumpster. (Amazing what folks toss away because there's a little bit of chafe somewhere.)
