? on AC circuit breaker on CD30

Post by Sasjzl »

I have an AC related questions for you Cape Dory-ers if you have a moment.
This is a very important safety ToDo that I got from my surveyor:
==============================
4.* Install 120-volt main breaker that simultaneously trips hot and neutral legs. (ABYC E-11)
5.* Install 120-volt sub-breakers for distribution equipment along with reverse polarity indication. (ABYC E-11)
=====================================================================

I am kind of confused as I reading through the CD31 manual on this website it suggests that there already is an AC circuit breaker on the boat. I guess my surveyor is saying that I need to install a better circuit breaker?

Any thought would be most appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

How about a photo of what you have? That would help.

This is the panel on Orion. Seems to possess all that he is referring to. Ask him for clarification.

New regulations require a double disconnect for AC that will trip hot and neutral.
I have included a photo of ours.

I think these articles from Blue Sea Systems cover the items the surveyor was referencing:

https://www.bluesea.com/support/article ... Indicators

https://www.bluesea.com/support/article ... boat_safer.

The original Cape Dory panel on the CD31 came with the Reverse Polarity Indicator. The ELCI is a newer item that would have to be added to the system.

Yep. According to the surveyor the original equipment was removed or replaced...I won't be sure until I can get to the boat in person which should happen on Tuesday when I take possession. I will be back with a picture then.

Thanks to all,
