I have a few minor areas of corrosion on the mast and boom of my 1980 CD27. Not much of a problem but my surveyor recommended getting rid of the corrosion and then painting those areas with zinc chromate paint to prevent further corrosion. That too isn't much of a problem but the zinc chromate paints I've seen are either red, yellow or green. Not exactly what I had in mind for my spars. I know zinc chromate is a primer but what would you use to over paint that primer. Any hints on how many coats? Or tricks to doing it so it looks like I DIDN"T do the paint job (you should see me paint..ugh).
Thanks

Re: Mast and Boom Paint
i have used the yellow zinc chromate primer for a number of applications including exterior light poles, soccer goals, benches, etc. to make your mast look like original it would have to be sprayed on. brushed or rolled will look like it was brushed or rolled no matter how good you are. being that it is a mast, if you have any experience at all with spraying you should be able to do a reasonable job.
