Buying a boat in Canada ?
Buying a boat in Canada ?
I am considering a boat ( outboard and trailer ) that is in Canada. I live in Florida. Has any one experienced this and the paperwork involved ?

Re: Buying a boat in Canada ?
I just went through this two years ago. Nafta was still enforce at the time so things might have changed. Are you going to sail the boat into the USA, or have I trucked? BCP told me if I would be with the boat it would be easy, if not - get a broker. The paper work can be done by you, but there can be a lot of it. David Patterson, who used to be on this board, bought a boat in Canada the same time that I did and he sailed it into the US. I will see if I can find his reference to the paper he used. It helps if the boat is documented in the US.

Hello to those who have followed me in recent years. I don’t think I’ll be posting here in 2018. I can be found on Instagram as dpatterson49, or on Facebook. I post to the Sailing and Cruising group, Singlehanders, and Tiny Liveaboards, as well as under David Patterson. The first photo is looking out on the bay of Port Townsend on 2/24. The change of seasons is apparent. Less apparent is that the local Shipwrights Regatta just ended, semi-officially opening the conventional cruising season. One vessel can be seen through the branches. In the other photo the remnants of the regatta head in, far down the bay. A great season to all of you when you get back afloat, if you aren’t yet.
Maybe you can reach him on Facebook.

I would be bringing it across the boarder on the trailer.

It would use helpful to call the customs office where you will be bring in the boat. Each office has its own interpretation of rules and regs.
IUf you are going to be with the boat these two forms might be all that you need. What about the trailer?
