My 1982 CD 25D did not have a temperature gauge so I bought and installed a Teleflex gauge. I followed the instructions: wire from ignition switch, to ground, and to sender. First, the gauge pegged to above 240 degrees which indicated a grounded sender. I replaced the sender. Now the gauge lays below 120 degrees and won't move with the engine (a Yanmar 1 GM) running and warmed up. It's getting power and is grounded. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for me to try?

Re: Temperature gauge
Ray, it sounds to me like you either have another faulty sender, faulty gauge or perhaps you have a thermostat problem. What does the Yanmar usually run at? About 165 degrees or so? Try closing your seacock a little bit at a time and see if it brings the gauge reading up, if it doesn't then I'd be shopping for a new sender or possibly a gauge.Ray Worthington wrote: My 1982 CD 25D did not have a temperature gauge so I bought and installed a Teleflex gauge.
