I've just bought a 1975 CD25 which needs some TLC. Among other things, I want to purchase new (or used, if in good condition) cushions and sails. Does anyone have a suggestion for where to look?
Thanks,
Evan

Re: Cushions and Sails for CD25
We have never used this company for cushions but get their literature in the mail. I just looked up their website. It is www.bottomsiders.com. They do cushions for Cape Dory sailboats. I am sure there are several other companies that do them also.

I made new cushion covers when I got my used CD 25 for a fraction of the cost for new ones. I used the old cushion to make a template onto drafting paper and added a 1/2 inch to each edge for the seams. On the longest side, I used two pieces of fabric to make the placket for the zipper and purchased a 36" zipper (not metal)and completed the piece. I then cut this piece to the width of the other sides. I then assembled the cushion cover. It was easy and I made the new V-berth and quarter berth (total of 4) cusions to accomodate 4" foam in about 3 nights, a total of about 9 hours. For the interior I used sale upholstery fabric from the local fabric store and for the exterior I used reinforced vinyl also from the same fabric store so if they get wet, you can simply wipe them off. I then took my templates to the local foam outlet and they cut new cushions (my old onces came with mildew!) The cushion covers cost about a total of $100 and the new foam was about $160. Four years later, they're still like new.
If you've never sewn, and have no clue what I'm talking about, you may just want to find a local seamstress who will do it for you. Hope this helps,
Peg
PS, I also made my main and jib covers in one night. Very easy!
