New Year eve day sail off iof Key West. Had friends take a photo as we sailed just off the southernmost point. Temp about 82, 15 to 20 mph winds. Nice day for a end of the year sail.

Re: Last Sail of 2018
I find this picture very interesting, and I have learned much from it. I did not know, for example, that Key West was home to the southernmost point in the continental United States. Now I do. I also did not know that Key West seceded from the United States in the 1970s in order to form the Conch Republic. I further discovered that the monument marking the southernmost point is actually not at the exact most southern point in the U.S., at least according to the web site I was looking at, and the monument itself is a large piece of cement sewer pipe. I definitely would like to go sailing there someday.

Re: Last Sail of 2018
Key West has been noted as “Close to Perfect but far from normal”! Each anniversary of the succession they reinact a sea battle where the Coast Guard battle the Conch Republic Navy and due to the water balloons, every one gets wet.
While the Navy site is further South its location is said to not count since it’s on sea bottom that was filled in by dredging spoil.
Will post a video of sailing with dolphins last week and some local Key West color in the form of an Old Town alarm clock.
