Typhoon - whole or parts

Post by Petewentsailing »

I've had a CD10 for years and recently acquired a typhoon....actually two.

My project has left me with an extra hull and many parts. I would ideally like to find a home for the entire hull rather than disposing of it. A full restoration would be a challenge as the deck core is pretty much all bad, and many parts are missing.

Use the boat for a kids playhouse? Or?

I have many teak pieces, none in great shape. Winch stands. Stem head piece. Some rigging. Rudder. Locker tops.

Any needs or ideas, let me know. Southeastern new England delivery possible.

Do you know the hull # or VIN for the boat by chance? I’d be interested in acquiring some parts if available: bow fitting, spars or tabernacle, sliding hatch? Love to chat about what you’ve got leftover...On the “repurposing” side I’ve seen sections of bows & sterns used as design pieces in various places... kids playpiece is a great idea as well, but where...? Good luck! Hope to hear from you...

Hi there,
I recently suffered a dismasting, and would be interested to know if you had a Tabernacle and Spreaders that you could sell to me.

Thanks for all the interest and comments. This Typhoon is beyond practical restoration, so she is going to be parted out
I was out of town for a bit. If anyone inquired and I failed to reply, please ask again.

I have:

Teak trim - none in good shape
Mast - bent, but have boom and hardware, no spreaders
Tabernacle fitting
Rudder and tiller
Stem head fitting
Chain plates
Aluminum winches
Plastic ports
One cockpit locker lid

Pics available

I’ve attempted to reach you a couple of times via PM, but haven’t heard back - I’d be interested in several of your listed items and you can reach me at 843-450-2498. Thanks!

Thanks for all the interest. The inventory of parts is now pretty small. I have a rudder, one cockpit locker top, a boom, and a few bits of miscellaneous hardware remaining. Bronze parts all gone. No sails or rigging.

I have so far been unable to find anyone interested in salvaging the lead from the keel. There seems to be significant scrap value there, but I'm likely going to end up paying to dispose of the lead (along with the rest of the boat) at the landfill.

If anyone has a use for a picked over typhoon hull, I'd pay you to take it. RI location. Local delivery possible.
