CD 25D rudder removal

Good morning, all. I am the new caretaker of s/v Mickaleen, an '84 25D. One of the projects I knew needed attention was the removal and reconstruction of the rudder. I have ground off and removed the rivets holding the heel bracket, but the prop is still in the road. Am I missing something, or does the prop shaft need to be removed, too. And if so, is there a "right" direction to remove it? The motor is out of the boat. Thanks.
