CD30 c - Stays'l ( again )
Calling CD 30 cutter sailors. Restoring Pochade to her former cutter rig. Meeting with sailmaker next week to go over details for new suit of tan bark sails. Some questions and pondering I am having: 1. I have original stays'l boom and pedestal, but 1/2 heartedly looking if there are any advantages to rigging the stays'l on a roller furler ? With traditionally rigged - 2. Is your sail laced on the stay or use hanks? 3. Anyone have reef points on their stays'l? 3. Do you have the tack of sail attaching to pedestal by just a shackle or shackle and small pendant? 4. Anything you might do if buying new sails to help performance? The existing sails were built in 2002 and I have only sailed on the boat one afternoon, so she is quite the lady of mystery to me. Really interested in hearing from everyone.

Here is a picture of my roller furlers. The Yankee furling line runs down the stbd. side through a series of stanchion mtd. blocks, while the Staysail runs down the port side. The Staysail clew line goes through a block at the end of the boom, back down to a block on the pedestal and back to the cockpit.

I have 1 set of reef points and use a 6" pendant on my staysail, which is hanked on. I've been considering a furler for it, perhaps one of these days I'll get to it.
