PS..not selling my boat!!! Never!! Love that "hole in the water"

Larry,

Thanks for that URL. I checked out our CD30, and they say it should have a value of ~$40k - $42k (1983 CD30 cutter) in fresh water. Does that seem a tad high on average? I paid 41k for our boat in 1991, so this means that the CD30 has held it's value well. I know that I have seen non-primetime CD30's going for $26-$35k, but I suspect that they were pretty well needing a refit top to bottom.

Interesting site. Thanks Again.

Hi Larry

The Buc Book price for my MKII was also appreciably higher then what I
paid for mine... are they going up in price? I thought of calling boat us (insurance) and "upping" the replacement amount. I could never
replace with the apparent increase in going prices.

Those of you that already own your ultimate Cape Dory can smile. The surveyor I used in last Fall indicated that CD book prices were up about 7% from the previous year. It is nice to get something besides expenses for that capital investment!

Spring is here - daffodils are up! The last ice storm can't be too far away.

Well, my Cd30 is an '83 and has 1 year left to go before she's all ours! So this would of course be great news.

Boy, talk about an early spring up here in NW Wisc. One week ago, we had 3 1/2 ft. of snow on the ground, and we were ending a spat of January type cold weather. Today, the grass *is green!*..and no snow at all. People are out on their Motoguzzi's and in their canoes already. In two weeks, we will be heading north to uncover and bask in the missed but loved presence of our now more valuable baby. Lordy, I have missed her.

Well, happy really early spring everyone, and enjoy the time!

Buc Book Prices are High

Post by Walt Bilofsky »

I think the Buc book prices are higher than reality. I know they're supposed to reflect actual sales prices, but am pretty sure they are more a guide to where brokers should list a boat for sale, and then negotiate down from there. After all, suppose a broker lists a boat for $50,000, and a buyer asks to see the Buc book on it. The broker doesn't want the customer to see $40,000, even if that's the usual selling price.
