I sailed up the Potomac and anchored in the Washington channel for three days. The fireworks were ruined by the rain and low lying clouds but it was a fun trip, the longest time I've spent on the boat since I got it. Anchor held the whole time w/o much effort. A+ would do again.
On the dock just before pushing off.
About halfway there.
First night on the hook.
lots of rain.
Launched the dinghy to get some pics, dump trash and go for a run.

Re: 4th of July, Washington DC
Looks like a good spot to me. I'd like to take my boat there near DC sometime. I drive over the 495 bridge to get to my boat and usually see some boats sailing the Potomac.
