Cape Dorys to Look at in Vancouver?

Post by Midwesterner »

My wife and I are doing a sailing Charter in Vancouver British Columbia in the middle of June. I have been doing research on what my dreamboat would be that I would hope to own and Cape Dorys of the 30, 31, 32 or 33 foot sizes are at the top of my list. I I'm not ready to start traveling around the country looking at currently offered boats for sale. I would love it if I could connect with someone who owns one in Vancouver that I could have a chance to get aboard one.

We will be in the area of Granville Island in the middle of June without a car.

Thanks.

I don't know of any 33's in Vancouver but I would check the Cape Dory Registry for any CD 30 to 33 owners. I know there are a few on the west coast. Of course, I will vouch for the sailing qualities, substantialness and functionality of the 33, but then again I'm rather biased.

We have a CD33 in Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, and will be at our cottage on Protection Island in Nanaimo. You can take a ferry or floatplane across the Strait of Georgia to Nanaimo (or sail your charter boat). I don't know if that would fit your schedule, but we'd be happy to see you, and show you the boat.
