Hello John B.:
You may also want to consider purchasing screens from:
http://screensofschoonerbay.com/page1/page1.html
John Danicic is a Cape Dory owner (CD 36) and a CDSOA member. You will find many posts on this website attesting to the quality and beauty of his screens. I have had mine for several years and they are beautiful; perfect fit.
I seem to recall you had your Cape Dory 28 for sale last year. I am not sure if you are still interested in selling your Cape Dory 28. Regardless, John Danicic's screens will add value to your Cape Dory 28.

Re: Fun with 3d Printing
I always wondered if 3D printing was going to send me off happily to retirement. Still can't imagine how such a thing can be done and there is part of me that says, "no way will it replace good old hand assembly".
But then again, back in 1983, I got a chance to photograph for Kodak their first Digital Camera prototype. It was the size of a dorm refrigerator, held five pictures and each picture took 30 second to exposed and 2 minutes to process. The engineers were pretty excited about it and I went away thinking that they had a long way to go to get this thing mainstream. Things do tend to evolve, sometimes faster and better then we can imagine. The little camera on my laptop is a million times better then that camera was.
Thanks for the kind comments about my screens. It is fun to make something that fits into the handmade character of our boats. I'll keep making them as long as my senior companion robot assistant, Care-o-Bot 3, is programed to let me handle a very hot soldering iron.

John:
I watched with interest the video you referenced.
Your screens, and the craftsmanship of many, many other artisans in many other endeavors related to all manner of boats, have character, depth, a sense of connecting to our boats.
I have no intentions of living in the kind of plastic, cold metal, aseptic, inhuman world depicted in your video reference. I am hopeful I will put out to sea for the final time long before these "robots" become home companions.

That must be so cool to have the Bahamas close by. I'm so looking forward to spring. The only thing we have going on in Connecticut is skunk mating season. There are three scenting the neighborhood a half mile away from my house. They each lost a game of chicken with an automobile.

Re: Fun with 3d Printing
Which one was the elderly? Think I would want a Young Robot Companion. I also think C-3PO would be a lot more fun as a companion than the Elderly robot.
