Rig-Rite & anodized masts...
I know this is probably a long shot, but does anyone out there have any idea where Rig-Rite might send it's spars to get anodized? I ordered a Spartan replacement mast for my CD30 begining of December last year and still no sign of it. A few weeks back Kim at Rig-Rite said he was shipping it out to get anodized....that was the last I've heard of it. I'm not able to get any information from Rig-Rite since Kim is away from the office (don't know how long) and there is absolutly no one else at the office who has any idea where any of this stuff goes. For all I know it may well show up at my door step tomorrow, but I'd like to get some confirmatin and I'm not able to at the RR office. So any ideas out there?
By the way....has anyone else out there had any dealings with Rig-Rite? and if so....how did it go?
waiting for my mast....... Pat

Re: Rig-Rite & anodized masts...
I found them extremely slow. Had to wait over 8 weeks for a whisker pole eye for the mast!

Re: Rig-Rite & anodized masts...
Pat, this probably does not help, but can you get your money back? A local boat yard owner in the Mobile, AL area told me that when he orders a mast for a customer's boat, he calls Catalina. He said I could get things retail from Catalina for a fraction of his wholesale costs anywhere else. When you think about it, all masts are standardized diameters and lenghts. He had very nice things to say about Catalina's customer satisfaction policy too. On the other hand, I recently called Rig-Rite for a quote on a mast and rigging for my 25. The receptionist was abrasive and not interested in helping. Kim was of course "out traveling making sales calls" and when I did get the quotes the prices were way out of line. It kinda made me mad because this web site is giving them advertising space. (P.S. my boat owner friend turned me on to a used rigged out mast & boom with sail and sail cover for $350. My restoration project continues).

Re: Spartan and Kenyon Spars
Many of the older Catalinas were equipped with Kenyon Spars as original equipment. The Kenyon Spars were/are also manufactured by Rig-Rite.
Many of the newer Catalinas' masts were built by Z-Spars which is a French company.
US Spars Inc. of Gainesville, FL is the sole importer of Z-Spars in the US and Rig-Rite is a distributor. I don't know of any other distributors of Z-Spars in the US other than Rig-Rite (hope I'm very wrong).
The Catalina dealer is either dealing with US Spars Inc. or Rig-Rite and taking on the headache of dealing with them instead of the customer having to deal with them. I wonder if Rig-Rite is giving preferential treatment to boat builders and dealers?
It's a shame some have had such a difficult time with them. I hope letters have been written to Rig-Rite's management expressing the displeasure with their service.

Re: Rig-Wrong experience
We ordered all new lifelines from them and even sent them our old ones for them to measure and duplicate exactly. Not only could they not duplicate them exactly (we had to send them back a second time for revision) but I have never seen such a shoddy job in my life. There is exposed stainless wire at almost every joint. The person at Rig Wrong told me to drill out the small holes in the stanchions to enlarge the holes to accommodate their wrongly sized fittings. PLEASE!!!!! WE WILL NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN!!!!! P.S. THEY WERE VERY SLOW
Re: Rig-Rite & anodized masts...
I just ordered a "Traveller Line Control Conversion Kit" from them and
the wait time is 5 weeks. Can I order a Conversion kit elsewhere? After reading all this I'm wondering if the "stuff" will be here before spring!

Same experience
Ordered new spreaders for my 79 CD36 and it took 3 or 4 months, excuses galore - first have to go to the boatshow, then they haven't found this mold, etc, etc,....eventually got them but had to pay thru the nose. They were polite enough, alright, but the delay and cost really sucked.
Not the first place I would turn to in the future.

RIG-RITE Travler line upgrade kit
I'm thinking about cancelling my order for a Line Upgrade Kit for my Traveler...I can "almost" wait the 5 weeks before this order ships(if it ships then) but what if I need parts in the future? How long will
take to get replacment parts....summers are short up here in CT!! I rather change over to a completly different system. I have the NICRO
system now with the spring loaded pin type end stops. Like to keep the same track...anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Rig-Rite... try Dwyer Masts
Try DWYER Masts very reputable manufacturer of masts. I don't know if they do anodizing but you ought to give them a call.

Re: List of websites for Spars and Rigging
Here's a URL to bookmark. It's a web page from Marine Waypoints.com's website which lists many resources for spars and rigging.

Re: Rig-Rite & anodized masts...
It took me quite a while to get a quote from them on a single stanchion. They had the usual trade show excuses, but finally came back with an expensive quote (relative to off-the-shelf products) after I created a drawing with measurements. We repaired the old stanchion to better-than-new strength.
On the other hand, others never did respond or provided no quote, so I chalked it up to a lack of interest in small jobs.
