I'm attempting to rig a gin pole set up to lower (and, in spring, raise) my mast. I'm considering using my trailer winch in its place on the trailer. It's position on the trailer is lower than the deck of the Ty. I'm thinking of running the line connected to the gin pole through the opening in the stem fitting where you run your tie up lines. This will act as a guide for the line. But that will make the gin pole sightly off the center line of the boat. Anyone see any disasters in doing it this way?
Attached is a pic showing the position of the winch in relation to the opening in the stem fitting.

I will leave other comments to be made by others with experience with the Ty, but the dock line lock/fairleads do not look too far out of line for the purpose, IF you can crank the line onto the winch drum with an even lay, and your brake system is adequate for safely controlling the let-out mode.
However, reminder, check out all your winch, and end attachments, as well as the condition of the line prior to doing the first trial. Safety first.
