I am pulling my 1982 MD7B in a couple of weeks. It starts and runs fine, is reliable and does not over heat. MS10 gear box is good. All senders and gauges work, indicator lights ,etc. I put some work into it in 2008 (rebuilt injectors, 4 mounts, resealed the gear box, cleaned out the rust, ground valves, t-stat, etc.) Johnson raw water pump is new (zero hours). This is raw water engine although has always been fresh water rinsed so corrosion is tolerable.
On the down side, the Bosch injector pump is seeping fuel (not yet dripping but that will come) and a raw water leak in the copper tube which feeds the exhaust manifold. These would need to be dealt with if the engine is to be used.
If you wanted to see it start and run, it will be in the boat for the next few weeks. If somebody had a good injector pump and copper water tube, the engine has some life left. If somebody needed a transmission or some other part, this would make a good donor. Included is the hand crank, fuel filter, oil filter, random gaskets, new impellor, and random spares.
The boat is located in Ventura CA. If you are interested, you can see it run or make an offer.
