Why does the manual say I have a slide out berth?
It says something in my cd28 booklet about having a berth in the cabin that slides out to make a double berth. Am I missing something obvious? I have two couches for lack of the proper term. I guess tha port one is bigger and they both have the back rest that raises, but I don't see anyway to make this a double. Missing something?

On the CD30 the port berth slides out and is supported by two legs with pegs that fit into holes in the sole and under the berth. You use the backrest cushions to fill out the mattress.

If you pull up the port side cushion, you'll find the pin (or in my case, a large nail) that holds the sliding part in place.
Do you have a fold down table or one that's mounted on the sole? Mine is on the sole, with long legs for the table, and two shorter ones for the pullout.

I had a 1978 CD28 and the pullout section was well concealed, and very tricky (sticky) to pull out. This is in the main cabin, BTW. Looking at the trim you should see upper and lower sections of the horizontal "pan," for lack of better terms, that the cushions sit on. Pull evenly (after aforementioned pin is removed) and it should slide out.

My 25D has a pull-out berth (the starboard settee), but my wife and I have found it a pain to set up, so we never used it. Since Lynne has stopped cruising, it's a moot point.

Wow! It slides right out! I had two pieces of wood that looked like paper towel holders, those are the dowels that support the bunk.
Mine is easy to get out and I have he bulkhead mounted table.
Now the previous owner left five pieces of wood. Two are to hold up the bunk, what are the others? Two are rectangles about the size of an iPad mini, and one is bigger, has a finger hole and is striped different kinds of wood.

Do you have a couple cut-out's so you can access water tank clean-out's? It sounds like you are describing the covers, one of which you can see in this photo. When I was finished with my project I popped the cover back in place. It's just a piece of teak faced plywood.Northoceanbeach wrote:Two are rectangles about the size of an iPad mini, and one is bigger, has a finger hole and is striped different kinds of wood.

You know what the striped one kind of looks like? A table, an outdoor little single cockpit table.

Could it be the Cutting Board that fits over the original Alcohol Stove?

You've got it. Man, that's got to be it. It looks just like one of those.
When I bought the boat the entire stove was removed. What do you think I should do? Should I......
A. Get another stove that fits, any kind.
B. Get the original stove
C. Get a propane stove, run a splitter from my hose that comes from my propane tank that runs my magna grill.
D. Get whatever is the latest and greatest, whatever that may be.
E. Continue to use it for storage.

Take a look at the Origo 4000... Non-pressure alcohol and it pretty much fits, with just a modest amount of cutting.Northoceanbeach wrote:You've got it. Man, that's got to be it. It looks just like one of those.

Re: Why does the manual say I have a slide out berth?
The Origo cover is a little thinner than the one shown in the picture. I'm pretty sure that is the cover for the storage compartment immediately in front of (starboard of...) the stove. My 1982 CD28 had a hinged board exactly like that covering that compartment. Are there screw holes along the long edge opposite where the finger hole is?

That's the cutting board for the Kenyan stove. The pump knob is right where the hole is, which allows the cutting board to sit flat on the stove.Randy Capstick wrote:The Origo cover is a little thinner than the one shown in the picture.
