Cape Dory 28 in New York

Post by mattlydon »

Sleipnir is a 1975 Cape Dory 28, Hull # 39, which is just completing an extensive restoration, is now on the market and looking for a new owner. She is a very capable blue-water cruiser, a surprisingly quick sailor, and I get constant compliments on the boat, and comments to the effect that she is a very inviting ship, beautiful classic lines, beautiful woodwork, etc.
.Just about every component on the boat has been removed, refurbished or replaced, and re-installed/re-bedded -- one of my witty helpers states that the only thing original remaining is the fiberglass.
Exterior:
Interlux Perfection Hull and Deck -- stanchions, fittings, portlights, etc. removed prior to painting and rebedded afterwards, so paint runs UNDER the hardware.
All portlights replaced with NFM bronze portlights
Stainless Cowl vent
All lifelines replaced with Suncor bare stainless lifeline kits
Nonskid refreshed with Epifanes, cabin top refreshed with Perfection and grit
NEW Teak, finished bright:
New teak Toe rails
New teak Rub rails
New teak taffrail,
New teak hand rails
New teak coaming board
New mahogany bowsprit, all finished bright
All bottom paint was removed, hull was barrier coated, and new bottom paint applied

Interior:
All fiberglass painted with Interlux Perfection
Teak ceiling strips (interior) finished bright,
Mohagony bulkheads finished bright
All new settee and forward berth cushions, custom made multi-layer foam and high quality fabrics.

Mechanical/Electrical:
Volvo Md2B 25 hp diesel, original, in fine shape.
New Campbell Sailor Prop, prop shaft, cutlass bearing, PSS Shaft Seal, and engine coupling
New engine mounts
New Bilge Pump, quality hose, and bronze through-hull
Emergency Bilge pump hose replaced, strainer added
Balmar regulator/charge controller
Scupper hoses replaced
Twin 14 gallon stainless steel tanks with tank selector
Tach replaced
Fuel level gauges installed
Fuse panel upgraded to backlit blue seas breaker panel
Pressure water added
Fuse Block added to lazerette, feeds 'always on' circuits
LED running & Anchor lights, auto daytime shutoff for anchor light
Mast was rewired with Anchor marine cable, quality connectors.

General Upgrades:
Very recent Doyle sails -- still crispy
Spinnaker and Pole
Furlex 200 furler
Simrad TP32 Autotiller
Manual Vertical windlass
Garmin GPS
New Plastimo Contest compass

Additional standard equipment:
Depth & Speed instruments
Swim ladder
Flare kit -- new flares, current 'till 2017
Life jackets
Anchor & rode
Dock lines and fenders
Storage cradle & winter cover frame
Assorted spares -- impeller and head rebuild kits

Sleipnir is currently on the hard, scheduled to splash this weekend, 4/25, and is priced at $17,500
