CD brown boot line paint

Post by Petersen »

I have been having trouble finding a place to purchase the brown boot-line paint used on many CD's.
I went to West Marine and they couldn't even figure out a way to special order it.
Does anybody know where to buy it?
Thanks

If you can't find brown boot top paint just buy a brand you have found good results with and mix red and green together to make brown. Just add a little more of the red or the green to adjust the color to the shade of brown you desire.

Try Pettit Easypoxy one-part polyurethane #3510 "Brightwork Brown." Good color match and durable.

I'm stuck on Epifanes. Solid products, great customer service, ease of use. I use their varnish and their paints. Colors? They get you there and back.

If you have a gap of 1" between the bottom of the brown boot stripe and the bottompaint, a strip of buff/tan looks awesome compared to the bare fiberglass. I used a tiny can of bigbox oil based paint, because it gets sanded along with the bottom paint every year.

Sorry, no photos handy...

Brightwork Brown has a touch of red to it, but matches the teak nicely.

I looked for a long time to try to match the original brown on brown or maybe red on brown and here's what I came up with. I think that it looks very close to the original. Epifanes #11 for the boot top and Interlux ACT 8890b. If all goes well today I can send a pic of MOON DANCE's freshly painted bottom & boot top.

Peter,

I switched to Rusoleum Brown...cheap and does the job. This was after Petit discontinued its Brown.
