Origo alchohol canister gaskets

Post by David Morton »

I would like to replace those round gaskets that cover the Origo stove alcohol canisters to limit evaporation when not in use. Defender sells them for $17 each!!! I thought that was a little steep for what appears to be a simple round piece of rubber(?) sheeting. Am I missing something? And any suggestions for a suitable material from which I can cut my own round pieces?

Good evening David

My originals gave up the ghost some years ago. Since I have been using many different varieties of stuff. If I think it will work I give it a try. I am currently using aluminam foil (heavy duty) folded multiple times. It seems to be working although I cannot attest to the effectiveness of the substitutes.

If you or anyone comes up with a better "mouse trap" let me know please.

I have seen them on Ebay. They were two for $10.25 which included shipping. If you search for origo stove they will come up in the results. They appear to be the same.
