Alberg 22 For Sale

Post by ronkberg »

I hope I am within the rules by listing another Alberg design on the Cape Dory site. I have upgraded from my Typhoon to an Alberg 22 and have a fellow A22 member who is selling his Alberg. I have only sailed mine once but it is surely much more boat than my beloved Typhoon. I have attached a photo of my initial sail on Saco Bay, Maine.

If anyone is curious, send me a PM and I will give you the seller's contact info.

"Built in 1984, with a professional newly awlgriped hull and deck. All deck fittings re bedded. Nissan long shaft 8 hp and Nye factory trailer. I can send photos and additional info if desired."

Pete, you are absolutely correct and I am in the process of buying new sails to better match my shirt!

The Alberg 22 is like the TySr which also has a well mounted outboard. IMHO, getting the motor hidden rather than hanging off the aft transom gives much better lines. I've always wondered why CD did not do the same with the CD 22, maybe because it gives more space inside the cabin.

Hello CDers, here is a FaceBook set of photos of an upgrading of the 1984 A22 that is for sale. This boat is sailing in Michigan and the asking price is $8000 with a trailer.

I had my second sail today on my A22 and she is all I expected from a 22ft Alberg design. She is a much more stable platform than my beloved Typhoon and sails faster than I had expected.

Regards, Ron

Here are some additional photos of the Alberg

This is a quote from the seller. " The boat is located in St. Joseph, MI.
The sailboat and trailer were built by Nye yachts, Ontario in 1984, hull # 279. The trailer was rebuilt, new bearings, tires, sandblasted and repainted. The hull bottom was stripped about 5 years ago and an epoxy tar base applied. The deck and hull were awlgriped last year. All the deck hardware was rebedded as well. Equiped with a Schaefer cf 700 snap furler, new Hood mainsail, recut and cleaned 150 genoa. Long shaft Nissan 8hp 2 stroke. Icom marine mounted receiver and sony marine fm/am. $8,000
I'll send photos taken by shop that painted hull. Bob Miller "

Do you know why he's selling her? I just met this fellow last season after he had the work completed. She's a beautiful boat and he seemed ready to enjoy her for some time. Hope he's doing ok.

Hello David, I do not know why he is selling and do not personally know him. We are connected via the A22 website and he reached out to me when I joined the group and gave me the history of my A22 #186. Their website is friendly but not anywhere as active as the CD site because we have many more CD models and active members. I had looked at quite a few TySr and CD-22 sailboats for sale but could not pass up the A22 deal I got from a guy in NH.....almost in my backyard!

I have asked him to send me more photos and will post them here for interested potential buyers in the MI neighborhood.

If you want to reach out to him, I will give you his email via PM.

Ron,

Those A22's are pretty boats. Congrats. I'd be interested in sending him an email to see how he's doing. Perhaps he's just moving on to a different boat. Who knows.
