Water heater cracked fittings on CD 31

Hello fellow owners,

We're in Portland, on our way over to Nova Scotia. We noticed some leaking from the top (hot) hose fitting on the water heater, the gray plastic piece that's about 3 inches long and attached to the metal pipe going into the heater housing.

Close exam revealed cracks in the plastic on the heater end, and some leaking there.

Question, does anyone know if this can be repaired? Or is the fitting integral to the heater, which may mean a new heater. We think the heater is a Raritan 6-gallon, but not sure (no records and we can't see the label).

If it is integral, I was wondering if a temporary fix may get us over to Nova Scotia. Might marinetex work? Any other ideas?

Not an emergency, for we can turn off the water to the heater when we don't need hot water.

Use Rescue Tape. It's the silicone tape that adheres to itself. You find it everywhere today, even the big box stores. It'll stand up to heat and pressure and allow you to deal with the leak at your leisure.
