Cape Dory's Y2K Proof

Cape Dory's Y2K Proof
Well, I know a lot of Cape Dory owners were worried silly their boats might not be Y2K compatible. Worried their boats might turn into a pile of teak dust and fiberglass splinters at the stroke of midnight.
Just went to take a look at my boat and there it was, high and dry on its cradle and covered in blue plastic. What a relief.
It seems we'll all be sailing into the next Millennium.
I guess that's more than we can say about the New York Yact Club's Young America!
Happy Millennium,
Stephen

On 01/01/00 the weather in Southport, NC was a very pleasant 71 degrees. We took Solace for her first 21st century sail. We observed no Y2K issues.Well, I know a lot of Cape Dory owners were worried silly their boats might not be Y2K compatible. On the other hand, I saw two sloops and a gaff rigged yawl out in Salem Harbor for the traditional New Year's day sail. I guess that's a good omen for whatever year it is.
Happy New Year

I think the magic day will be 01/01/01 for the 1st day of the 1st month of the 1st year of the 1st century after the 20th. I think that will also put us in a new millenium. I am sure others will disagree. On 01/01/00 the weather in Southport, NC was a very pleasant...

Well the conditions were very similiar in Oklahoma on 01/01/00 and Rhapsody and crew had a wonderful afternoon on the water. Also, we can confirm that there were no Y2K bugs aboard. On 01/01/00 the weather in Southport, NC was a very pleasant 71 degrees. We took Solace for her first 21st century sail. Sat morning dawned bright and warm. We sail Kerr Lake, NC with a W-SW 10 to 15 with temps that peaked at near 70. So far this has been a GREAT year!

Minerva and I spent the night on Southbound, our Typhoon Sr hull #44. The count down to midnight was exciting but we had our life vest handy, just in case. We too can confirm that the Cape Dory fleet seems to be free of the Mil Bug.On 01/01/00 the weather in Southport, NC was a very pleasant 71 degrees. We took Solace for her first 21st century sail. Afloat at midnight - feet stayed dry. One Y2K bug though.

However the ratchet head flew off one of the noisemakers. If that isn't a Y2K failure I don't know what is.

At midnight we were anchored off the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, with a close up view of the Tiburon fireworks display and a good view of the San Francisco fireworks across the bay. Counted down to midnight using the clock display on the GPS. Engines started right up and the radar worked fine.Minerva and I spent the night on Southbound, our Typhoon Sr hull #44. Perhaps a stainless steel "graager" would be useful.
