Carribean French Toast

Post by jbenagh »

On a recent trip, I suggested French toast but we were out of vanilla and cinnamon. I had recently introduced my crew mate to Angostura bitters and she suggested this brilliant recipe which we found delicious, particularly with mangos:

2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
Angostura bitters to taste (2-5 dashes)
4 slices US bread or 10 slices stale french bread cut in 1/2in slices

heat griddle to medium heat
mix liquid ingredients
dip each piece of bread in the liquid
cook for about 2mins per side
serve with maple syrup

My standard french toast recipe uses

1/4 cup Baileys Irish Cream
1/2 Tsp cinnamon sugar

The rest is the same....
