winterizing washdown pump

Post by Linda »

I HAVE A JABSCO 4.0 GPM WASHDOWN PUMP ON MY CD30. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO WINTERIZE? I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PULL OFF THE HOSES TO DRAIN THE SYSTEM. WHAT IS THE SECRET?

If you can't pull the hose to drain it or run antifreeze through the system you could always cut the hose at a low point and tee into it with a valve, Steve.

put some antifreeze, or cheap vodka in the water tank and run the hose until the pink stuff or the vodka comes out.
Same thing for the sink.

The vodka leaves a much cleaner feel in the spring time.
I have yet to use it, but that is what I have heard.
