I was taking off the ports of my Typhoon to rebed them, and I broke the flange off one of them (I'm not too impressed with the quality of these fittings). I'm having difficulty locating a suitable replacement part. The cut-out is 4 5/16 inch diameter.
I know of a bronze opening port from ABI, but I don't want them to open (and I don't want to spend that much!). I also know of the Spartan fixed ports. I could probably enlarge the cut-out to fit one of these but it looks like the flange is too wide and will not fit on the curvature of the coachroof. New Found Metals don't have anything in this size.
Can anybody recommend a suitable part (bronze, aluminum or plastic)?
Regards,
Richard.

Just recieved the Sparten bronze ports for my 72 Typhoon, I too was worried about the curvature of the coach roof. I made a paper pattern for the cut out (cut from the inside with a skill saw),and dry fitted the ports. The outside dia of the port is 5'' 3/4'' and is tight to the coachroof before the curviture falls away. Holes drilled for the bronze bolts and nuts and the port bedded in 5200 should make for a nice neat job. Note,I ordered the ports unpolished but polished them myself before installation. Best of luck.. Bob P

Re: Replacement ports for Typhoon?
I just restored my CD Typhoon Weekender. Both ports were in sad condition and needed to be replaced. As you have done, I searched the market for a suitable replacement and was unable to find anything that was to my liking. So... I had my cabinetmakers craft a pair from Teak using the original ports as a pattern. To say that I am pleased is an understatement. If you can wait until this weekend, I will take a few pictures and post them.I was taking off the ports of my Typhoon to rebed them, and I broke the flange off one of them (I'm not too impressed with the quality of these fittings). Re: Replacement ports for Typhoon?
Richard,
ABI makes a 4" Bronze Deadlight that does not open for about $40 with interior finish ring. I replaced my Typhoon's portlights with these and they really make it look much better than the $95 or so it took to by them. They really pull the whole boat together, and I am no varnish and polish perfectionist. They just fit the boat, bring more light below and look solid. The outside diameter is 5 1/2" so they fit the cabin sides very nicely. You do have to widen the opeing slightly. I did this with a rounded rasp and about thirty minutes of sweat.
ABI is at 707 579 5799
Good luck and email me if you have any questions.
