CD 22D for sale Corpus Christi, TX

Post by seadawg »

1983 Cape Dory 22D “Whitecap” $16,500. With Shorelander trailer
Registration TX 4198 AD. HIN CPDV0148M83J Corpus Christi, TX

Legendary craftsmanship, seaworthiness and beauty have been identified with Cape Dory Yachts since 1963.
Carl Alberg’s full-keel “pocket cruiser” is the embodiment of this reputation. Sleek beauty, rich teak and bronze appointments and features not found on boats of her size make Whitecap one of the most sought after yachts from coast to coast. Whether used as a “trailer sailor” visiting small inland lakes as her first and second owner did, or sailed in the varied conditions that the Gulf Coast can offer as we have, she never fails to turn heads with her graceful lines and proper demeanor while underway.
Light use originally, (she was stored unused indoors from 1991-1999) and our meticulous care have kept Whitecap “brand new.”
The ability to trailer her with most full-sized cars or Sport Utilities will expand your cruising grounds and save storage fees. The Shorelander trailer lets her be launched at most ramps without the use of a travel-lift or hoist. The Yanmar 1GM diesel runs four hours on a gallon of diesel fuel and offers quite dependability that adds to Whitecap’s timeless appeal.

Electronics and Navigation

Raymarine ST-60+ Depth sounder with Airmar P-79 in-hull Transducer.
Duel Interstate Batteries with DC Selector Panel
Bulkhead mounted Compass.
Raymarine ST-1000A Autopilot.
Uniden UM-525 VHF with DSC.
VHF Receiver/Transmitter is linked by serial data to a Garmin GPS MAP 76C GPS.
(See photos showing teak drop board mount for GPS)
VHF antenna is mounted at top of mast for greater reception range.

Sails and Rig

Sail inventory includes main with duel slab reefing, 150 Genoa, 100% Jib and Storm Jib. Main sail and 100% Jib were recently cleaned and restored by SailCare. Main Sail foot is mounted with slugs so reefing line can go around sail and not boom to prevent tear out. Harkin 6:1 downhaul with access from cockpit. The Topping Lift is brought back to the cabin top for very fast reefing and quick kill of Main Sail power. Jib downhaul is brought back to mast base and bow netting will catch the down hauled jib to prevent it from dragging in the water.

Other Features

Danforth style anchor with 20’ of chain and 200’ of ½’ nylon road.
Recent bottom paint. Eight coats of Schooner Gold varnish applied May, 2011.
All new standing rigging and turnbuckles by Rigging Only in April 2008.
Whitecap sports a Sunbrella sun cover and matching Bimini. The Bimini frame is constructed of 1” stainless steel tubing for strength.
A Brand new Dometic porta-potti is included.
All of her exterior varnish was updated with eight coats of Schooner Gold in May, 2011.
Included are her maintenance records for the last nine years, the Yanmar parts and maintenance manual and the original Cape Dory Owners Manual. Large assortments of Yanmar spare parts are included.
Singlehanders can easily and safely raise and lower the mast using included gin pole and guys.
Whitecap has two bilge pumps: The standard Whale Gusher mounted in the cockpit and a Jabsco Model 36680-2000 Diaphragm type mounted in the stern locker. Her bilge has been bone dry and her stuffing box packing is recently new.
There are four Wichard pad eyes with backing plates around her perimeter for your tether if needed.
All portlights have bronze screens by Schooner Bay.

I might be interested in taking a look if it's still available at the end of March. That's when I'm taking time off from work to do a road trip looking at some boats. Would like to see some pictures.

Thanks,
Daniel
