Hello all,
I had my topsides compounded and waxed this Spring. The result is beautiful and gives me even more pride in having a Cape Dory.
Sunday the rubrail of my dinghy bumped the topside and left a very small blue smudge mark. I cannot even feel it if I rub my finger across it, but I know that it is there. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to remove the smudge without leaving a dull spot on the wax job.
Thanks,
JBA

Removing the smudge
JBA,
The easiest thing to do is to use the mildest, least abrasive rubbing compound you can find, on a very soft cloth. Use just your finger to gently rub the small area. You could also use a little damp baking soda or a little soft scrub the same way. It's only slightly possible that you'll get the smudge off without damaging the wax. In any case, it's EASY to just re-wax the area using a good quality car or boat wax, following the instructions on the can.
Another possibility is to buy a can of "cleaner wax", which is two products in one. It will remove the smudge and leave the area freshly waxed.
Good Luck!

3M Cleaner/Wax
I read last night that Hinckley uses 3M Cleaner/Wax. I have used this product as well. I would give it a try on your smudge.
