Nights at anchor

SurryMarks post mentioning he spent 20 nights at anchor this year made me curious about others. So to to expand upon Barfwinkles' surveys, how about others? I spent 2 nights at anchor on my Typhoon this year and I am thinking that really equates to 20 on a CD 27... but that is another topic!

I agree that nights at anchor are wonderful. I didn't get to 20 this season, but I probably managed that last year. The previous year, I was on the boat almost continuously for two months, and that was wonderful.

Always great to see the sun come up on the water.

Personally, I love to spend nights at anchor. Coming from working on larger boats, we never picked up moorings since there were not any that were large enough and I have never cared for docks.

The total tally is 51 nights at anchor this year.

Only three this year -- we had too many other things going on. Last year we had about twelve. This on a CD25.

We normally anchor, even when moorings are available. The Admiral says something about pinching my pennies. This year was an off year due to the Admiral's illness, but we still managed about 20 nights. In previous years with our trips up the coast, we would do about 70 nights. In places like Stonington and Cuttyhunk the transient moorings are only a few feet from the anchoring field, so why pay the $40-$50.
