The whisker pole for my Cape Dory 30 Cutter went missing over the winter. Does anyone know the proper length and diameter for a replacement? Any thoughts on a good brand?
Thanks, Dave

Whisker Pole
I use a Forespar line-control telescoping whisker pole Model LC-10-18 EL-UTR, which I am appalled to see now costs almost 10 boat dollars. The pole telescopes from 10 to 18 feet which works well with a big nylon drifter I use sailing downwind.
At one point I also carried a 10 ft. spinnaker pole which worked well for poling out the yankee. If you are just working with the standard jib, finding a used spinnaker pole at a swap meet would be the way to go. You can also easily shorten a used pole to get the sail shape you want.....
Good hunting.

Dave, I use a Forespar twist lock pole, here's a link:

It is much less expensive than the line control pole and has done the job.

Whisker pole
I have a Forespar whisker pole for sale at $500. It goes with my spinnaker which is also for sale --- see "Items for Sale" on the CDSOA Board.
The pole, in good condition, measures 7' to 17', dia 2 1/2 "
