Service/Tech manual Volvo 200hp Diesel,CD pwrboats

Post by Tony Raymond »

Has anyone located a service or technical manual for the Volvo TAMD41 diesel engines used in the Cape Dory powerboats? I have an Owners manual which is about 10-15 pages and gives operation information and routine maintenace like oil change info etc. I have tried to several Volvo dealers and they say nothing is available. I even tried Volvo America and their response was that they recommended only "factory trained" service personnel to work on the engines and don't publish manuals. I've heard of other manufacturers offering owners courses, anyone heard of a Volvo course? Thanks

According to Helmut's Marine Service, our local Volvo experts, there is something called a Workshop Manual, which is what their mechanics use. The part number is 7731268-4 and it's $11.11. They say that is all there is.

I have an Owner's Manual and an Instruction Manual that came with my engines, and neither one is the same part number, though of course it might have changed in the last six years. "Workshop Manual" sounds like what you're looking for, but I'd be very suspicious of any Volvo item that's that cheap - the way they price stuff, $11.11 would just about cover a small brochure.

Helmut's number is 800-326-5135.
