Just got my CD 25. Was overly zealous in removing the cover while she was still under trees. Got leaf stains and stains from other little "doo-dads" that fell from the trees. Any ideas on cleaning off the stains? Also I'm a neophite. Do I want to wax the decks after I clean them, or would this make them too slippery? Should I only wax the cockpit surfaces that I won't be standing on?
Advice most appreciated.

Tree/leaf stains on deck

Re: Tree/leaf stains on deck
Bill,
If a fiberglass cleaner (the BoatLife powder is good) won't get the tree stains out, try Starbrite Black Stain Remover or a similar product. That stuff will remove just about anything. Also, you can use both compound and wax on the smooth gelcoated surfaces of the deck and cabintop but don't use either of them on the nonskid areas.

Re: Tree/leaf stains on deck
Bill,
I've had my share of leaf stains, and have had mixed results in trying to scrub them away. One thing I've observed over the years is that residual stains that remain after srubbing will almost always disappear after a good (maybe a week) dose of direct sunlight. Don't ask me to explain it, but I've seen the sun do it's work on leaves and teak cleaner residue that lingered on deck too long.
For what it's worth.....Craig

Tannin stains
Hi,
Those stains come from tannins and other organics, I have had good luck removing them with "Iron Out" available at your local Home Depot in the plumbing dept. Also good old amonia removes alot of stains, just be sure to avoid the fumes and keep it off your skin. Amonia also really cleans up the decks good too !
