Introduction

Post by NevisTyphoon »

Hey guys - it's been a while since I've posted, as hurricane season just ended down in Nevis, and we're just starting to get our boats wet.

But I want to make an introduction for a coupla new members on the board. The guy masquerading as hwh888 is really Harry, my best sailing buddy who has helped me immeasurably with Combolo. He's the guy putting on the replacement tiller on my blog page about the restoration and "quirky" launching of Combolo. He liked the Typhoon so much, he bought the only other Cape Dory on island, a 1981 CD-22. It's already in pretty great condition, but Harry is an engineer, and a sailor from waaaay back, so nothing short of perfection will do for him. Keep that in mind ;-)

His partner in the boat, Phil, also just logged onto the board, and I expect you'll be hearing from him soon.

We're really out in the middle of nowhere here, guys, with nothing but the internet to support us with our Cape Dory's. Y'all were fantastic in your support of me in my reconstruction of Combolo. I expect they'll find the same.

We now have on this list every single owner of a Cape Dory for an entire country. Wow ;-)

Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it-but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at anchor

Maybe a Nevis based Cape Dory yacht club with a reciprical agreement with all other Cape Dory Association members.

If I am ever so fortunate as to make a landfall on Nevis I would surely try to contact you.

You not only some beautiful Cape Dorys down there but it looks to be a pretty fine life too.

Build that fleet, Steve.

You may be in the middle of nowhere, but it would be hard to find a nicer place to be....Nevis is my favorite island of all I have visited....truly beautiful and still mostly unspoiled. :D
