There was an article in "Cruising World" a few years ago concerning a single handler, who lost his CD27' on a reef in the South Pacific. If you want details, I'll dig through the stacks.

this case is mentioned by richard henderson in his singlehanding book. the sailor had been awake for 36 hrs strait, made a navigation error attributable to fatigue and piled up on caroline island, where he spent some time prior to rescue. this was in the days prior to gps.M. I sailed on one in Hawaii last year that had sailed there on her own bottom.Richard Gelfand wrote: Does anyone know of anyone cruising a CD27 in blue water?

There was a heart rending (or gut wrenching, whichever is worse) photo of the CD27 careened against the reef, in the "Cruising World" article. At the time we were actively sailing our CD27, and it was a troubling sight.
