Spammer

Post by Amgine »

User Profilicus spammed me with a nasty link in a PM entitled "Forum Administration". I don't know of any other way to contact the forum admins.

Do not read the 'pm' you received from 'profilicus', delete it.

And rest assured that your email address has not been harvested by this spammer that has taken advantage of our message board. This clever spammer registered as a message board user and used the 'pm' feature of the message board to contact you. So the message came via the board from notifications@capedory.org and not via an email from the spammer. Don't read the message from 'profilicus', please delete it from you message board inbox. Anyway, it's been taken care of. Sorry for the inconvenience.

::grin:: Not a problem; I realized what it was. And thank you all for your hard work on the board!

The name tipped me off... maybe it was my inveterate punsterness, but my brain read his username as Prolificus, a really good nickname for a 'bot to use when spamming.

Another spammer

Post by Andy Denmark »

Cathy,

I think we have another spammer. I received notice of a PM at 1329 that turned out to be from "Acklianer" All the message said was "this seems very important information." I opened the message thinking this might be a boat name I didn't recognize. Of course, I didn't reply.

Thought you'd like to know.

This time it has little squares in the topic box. No opportunity to span goes untaken.
