I have been thinking about options for the upcoming "H" season in South Florida. At our local sailing club, when a "H" warning is announced for our area we are required to move our sailboats from the mooring field. Last year I moved three times to an area with a lot of mangroves. Fortunately, none of the three "H" events were direct hits or very strong. All worked out well, except for an amazing amount of leaves, dirt, etc in the cockpit and on the deck.
This year I am thinking of buying a new or used trailer and hauling S/V Tadpole out for any "H" events. I have a large yard and can reasonably put the trailer with S/V Tadpole in an area near the house.
Several friends on this site had recommended various trailer options to me many, many months ago when I was thinking of trailering S/V Tadpole from the west coast of Florida to Miami. I elected to hire a commercial mover instead.
The two suggestions for new trailers that I recall were Triad Trailers (now in NC) and Trail N Sail (a division of Road King Trailers near Ocala, Fl). Both would be new purchases. Both are expensive although Trail N Sail is slightly less expensive. Triads were about $2,300. I was quoted $2,000 by a local Trail N Sail dealer. These prices are for the very basic trailer - no trailer brakes, no separate ladder, etc.
So, does anyone have for sale or know of a new or used (but in very good condition) trailer for a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender
I do NOT want a float on/float off trailer. I believe I want a trailer with two adjustable "pads" on each side plus a pad for the bow.
Also, if you have any other suggestions for trailer mfgs., please let me know.
Thanks
