Pipe Dreaming!

Post by barfwinkle »

Hi ladies & Gents

Curious, does anyone know the price per gallon of ROAD diesel on the east coast? It finally hit, 3.90 in Oklahoma! Has a direct impact on Pipe Dreams!

Yep, marina diesel is out of site in my area as well as ROAD fuel. Thank goodness I get 50 + mpg on my VW TDI.
I could have sworn I smelled french fries the other day when I raced by a Cape Dory in my Whaler. :D Maybe veggie oil.

Check out the site below for prices of fuel in your neck of the woods.

Diesel here for my car is $4.299 a gallon. I suspect we may be selling gas and diesel by the quart pretty soon to avoid these high numbers!

Whatever happens to the price, I fill up on the first of every month! :D

I use Citco diesel. It gets about 10% better mileage than others. I get about 48 mpg in my VW Passat.

It was $3.94 per gallon here (NJ) on Friday (at the PetroStop on Rte. 1 in Rahway). Prices seem to change daily.

If it isn't bad enough that the money and gallons digits on the gas pump are a blur as the fuel pours into the tank, some genius set the pump to emit the last half buck (about a pint) to dribble out the pump handle, taking more time for the last 50 cents than the previous $20! Talk about adding insult to injury. I don't need this in 15 degree weather!

Diesel at $4

Post by John R. »

Diesel hit the 4 buck mark today in SW Florida at stations. Don't know what the marina upcharging is.

Not Bad!

I am suprised it's not higher since you don't pay state tax. It's always been higher than in Georgia. Most folks near the Ga/Fla line come to Georgia to buy their fuel.
I love my Cape Dory Typhoon and my VW. Great MPG!

Lew, have you figured out a way to "share" the VW diesel engine with your Typhoon? Must be a tight fit and can you share photos with us as to how you fitted it into your Ty? Here we are trying to hide the ugly outboard motor hanging off our transom and you've got the solution.

Come on Lew, share with your Typhoon brethren!
