Hi,
New member here. What a great users group. I've found a lot of great information on this site. Thanks to all of you who contribute.
I would like a little bit of help with my boat. The previous owner of my boat removed the mainsail reefing hooks. I've been using my cunningham cleat and pad-eye and a line for reefing, but I would like to return to the standard reefing system.
Can someone please send or post photos of the mainsail reefing hooks on their CD 28 so I can see what I need and where exactly they are attached?
Thank you in advance,
Rob

What you're doing now IS the standard system.
CD 28s did not come with reefing hooks. Not a bad plan to add them though.

Reefing Hooks on my CD 28
I have two reefing hooks, one on each side of the boom. They are mounted on the 5/16 bolt attaching the boom to the mast. I have used the this system for about 15 years and am very satisfied with their trouble free service. At each reef pt. I have nylon webbing with a "D" ring sown in that slips over the hook. The system has never failed.
best of luck in the new year Paul Marko
Sorry no photos ,my boats is in Fl. and I am in CA.

Thanks
Thanks for the responses.
That should get me to the next step. I'd been looking at that bolt as a likely mounting point.

Badge,
Sorry no pictures, I will look to see if I do have a shot somewhere of me reefing, showing the gooseneck. But two of these, mounted either side of the boom at the gooseneck hooks facing outward should work nicely. Usually you can bolt them through the tack fitting for the sail.
I added this arrangement on Femme and have no problem reefing up to two deep reefs and 45knots. I would like to sew webbing rings into the reef tack cringles but currently use a nice prussik loop or cordellette - 6 millimeter static line to reach the hook.
