This bulletin board, hosted by the CDSOA, Inc., is the on-line meeting place for all Cape Dory owners and groups. We welcome everyone's questions, answers and comments about Cape Dory sailboat
What a coincidence. I graduated from the NY maritime college in '83 and I recently got some pics of our old training ship from one of my class mates. He found it in a scrap yard in VA. It brought back many memories. I figured I had been shaving with it.
It could be the perfect platform for a newly formed YC. Think of the decks.....think of the sleeping quarters. No need to drive home after a regatta bender. We'd have 253 instant members.
I like the yacht club idea. It could be anchored in various locations. I roving club as it were. We could weld on a whole mess of floating docks. So much better than rafting up to one boat. Pot lucks could be catered affairs on the main deck of the mother ship. You want to pull your mast? No problem just use the club crane. There would always be plenty of half drunken help hanging around the main deck to lend a hand. There could be ice, water and fuel available. Pump outs even. It would take forever to fill the bilges in that thing! It must also have some sort of a shop for all sorts of repairs. A gift shop and general store would be nice. Someone should snap this puppy up and make their fortune. I would be willing to chip in a few dollars if it was to be a cooperative affair. I just need to see some paper work to absolve me of any liability. I see a great business opportunity here. Maybe Sea Hunt could finally have his boat! I would definitely be willing to donate towards his purchasing it. Hey, a dive shop even. Sail loft what else could we add? I don't think we should let this one get away, Steve.
