I was thinking about adding an bimini or dodger to my CD25 for next season (yep it is time for winter projects!) and wondered if anyone had done this? If so what design did you use and if it was created by a vendor what was their name/contact info.
The bimini would need to be useable while sailing and would not need to cover the entire cockpit but create at least a small area of shade. Also, a dodger that covers the companionway and the front portion of the cockpit could work as well.
Anyone put an bimini or dodger on a CD25?

"Life begins at 2 knots."
dodger
This issue is discussed at length in the archives. The good news--It can be done & a dodger looks great...Bad news-$$$ A new dodger & frame can cost up to 2000 bucks or more...But a dodger will add another few weeks of sailing when it gets cold!!
Good Luck!

PS where to get one
Oakum Bay in Marblehead will do it...you can google it for contact info
CD 25 Bimini
I had a bimini custom made for STAR (CD 25 #836) by Potomac Sails in Alexandria Va.......we also recut the main to allow the sheet to be tightened without the boom hitting the frame.....The total sail area was reduced by about 4-5%........I saw no difference in performance/speed.
Standing headroom is not possible but the bimini was well worth it......especially when sailing in Southern MD in the summer.
