Ahoy Carolinas Fleet Members (and those that want to be);
The 'highest honor' in the little fishing/sailing village of Oriental, would be to march down Main Street in The Croaker Festival Parade, carrying the Town's namesake: A replica of the 'nameboard' off the Steamship Oriental, which went aground on the Outer Banks, NC in May, 1862.
Well, it happened. And the 'carriers' were none other than three of the past and present Fleet Captains that call Oriental their home port.
Do you recognize any of these famous (now infamous) sailors?
We are wearing 'official' machinist/blacksmith aprons with the shipbuilders' logo. Don't ask for the full history lesson, there's not enough room on this Board!
