New CD25 Owner!

Post by KDreese »

Well the deal is finally complete and I am the proud owner of a 1974 CD25! This is my first "big" boat and I am really excited about getting the boat ready and of course that first sail. Thank you to EVERYONE on this board for all the help with my questions. This board, as many have mentioned before, is a HUGE resource. Thanks again.

Kevin,
You'll love your CD25. She's a blast to sail! Take care of her, and she'll bring you back safely every time.

CD-25

Had one, great boat!

She was fun to sail with a spinnaker (asymmetrical with pole and sock).

The engine in the box was a bad idea.

Watch out for pox.

She works well with an autohelm (tracks well)

for sleeping, if you are one person or a couple, an inflatable
double bed is comfortable in the middle of the cabin - bridge
the center isle with plywood and you have wonderful bed at
anchor. Use the Vee for storage.

Funny. I'm thinking a bed anchor would be important if, for example, you had a tendency to take a nap in your dinghy while the tide was going out.

BED ANCHOR

Post by Oswego John »

Neil,

Some day soon, well, one of these fine days, I'm going to take life seriously and find out how to send in photos with my posts.

If that day ever comes, I will send in a picture of a BED ANCHOR. It is of a flower bed with an old navy anchor leaning on it's side in the center.

Rising above all of this are three flagpoles. The tallest one in the center is for the Red, White and Blue, the flag of our country. The other two proudly bear a Service Colors and the Black MIA memento.

Just another twist of this convoluted path we travel on, called life.

There does seem a fondness for old anchors and putting them on display. I suppose we're not likely to see gardens with Lewmar Claws and Danforths, though.

CD-25

Post by Wayne Brown »

We purchases a CD-25 in 79 and just loved her. She made several passages across Lake Michigan and quite a few overnights along the lake, all with my wife and two kids, except one.

Question? How many people can a
CD-25 sleep. One memoral overnight involved another family of four. Total eight people. It didn't start out that way, but. With all aboard we anchored out on the boat to watch a fourth of July fireworks display. After the display it was so beautiful on the lake we went for a sail. It was late when we got back so you guessed it, we decided to stay aboard. Two adults in the V- berth, two adults in the settee berths, two early teen boys in the cockpit and two sub teen girls on the salon floor. All went well until a early morning shower drove everyone inside. Oh, to be young again.

Congratulations on choosing a terrific and sweet-sailing boat. Cheers, Brian (now in my nineteenth season as Simpatico's keeper)
