Typhoon heritage

There seems to be a lot of similarities b/t the old
Small Point One Design lines and the Typhoon. Does
anyone know if Alberg was influensed by the Charlie
Gomes boat from Small Point, Maine? Charlie Gomes built
it from Starling Burgess' 1937 design.
I would love to hear more about this strip built boat.
