Coastal Summer

Post by John Ring »

I put together a new slide show, using some new and some older images, and uploaded it to a host server. The image quality of this arrangement appears to be much better than video hosted on YouTube.

If you'd like to view the show, click the link. Then within the image, right click "full screen" if you have a fast connection. Turn your sound on. A left click near middle starts the show.

If you have trouble viewing, you may need to download & install this plug in: http://www.photodex.com/files/presenter/pxsetup.exe

Enjoy,
John

I guess Photodex doesn't like Linux.

I am NOT computer literate. I barely know how to turn one on. This is not an exaggeration. It is embarrassing but it is fact.

When I clicked on your photo site I got a blank screen in the area where I think there should be a picture. In the upper left corner there is a very small square box with a red "X".

At the top it does say "Photodex" with a yellowish background.

I have a 2001 DELL desktop computer with Windows Home Edition.

Any computer experts have any thoughts :?:

I got to see Cathy's video of dinghy racing without any problems.

I also see most (not all) photos posted on directly to this board.

Thanks,
Fair winds,

Robert

John,
I just slid into work in sleet and freezing rain (no snow!). What a great way to start the work week. That was fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Plug In Available

Post by John Ring »

Thank you all. I figured with the lovely sleet/snow/rain/ covering much of the area this time of year, a little shot of summer might lift the spirits a bit.

It sounds like some folks may need a plug-in to view the show. Try downloading and installing this one:

http://www.photodex.com/files/presenter/pxsetup.exe

I'm using Firefox (free browser from Mozilla.com) and it works fine.

Cheers,

P.S. If anyone is shopping for a good slide show program, I can highly recommend Photodex.

Great photos! I'd love to see

a list of all of the ports you were in and see how close I came on a few (M'head is the only really positive one.)

For those who can't view, you need a plug-in for your browser. Look for a bar along the top of the browser window that says (Click here to install). Sorry Carter, I suspect that they aren't Linux-friendly -- but at least you can have nice thoughts about your summer sailing while I fume about having to reboot my sorry Windows computer again...

Video quality

Post by Michael Ellis »

I saw your slideshow on Youtube before reading your post here. I was impressed by the image quality. I have tried uploading a short clip of my CD 330 at various quality levels, and all result in the same poor quality when accessed from Youtube. Regardless of the resolution of my original file, after sampling down the Youtube versions all look bad. I use Quicktime, what do you use and what format do you use for the file you upload?

Also, us Mac users won't be able to run the exe plugin you recommend.

Thanks for the great images and music. Looking forward to winter being gone.

mpeg

Post by John Ring »

Mike,

Everything I've sent up to Youtube is in mpeg format. The slide show I put on YouTube was created in Photodex ProshowGold using the mpeg output option. The other YouTube files either came right from a simple camera or were imported/edited in Nero and output as mpeg.

The files I upload to Photodex are in their .PX file format.

Best,
John

For those of us using Mac's or Linux are you saying that there's a way to get to the mpeg version ? Is there something I missed doing ?

Thanks

Got it on YouTube

John,

I was able to watch your YouTube version just now. Just as wonderful as last year's slide show. Like the music, too.

Thanks,
Carter
