Saltaway
I'm trying to get a Yanmar 1GM back up to use and as I'm pulling off the things I know need to be replaced (like the thermostat, zinc, and impeller) I've got some clogged lines where the raw water feeds into the engine. I've already removed all hoses for replacement, but I'm not too sure how to get the scaling inside the block off. My Yanmar guy suggested a produc called Saltaway, but he hadn't actually used it. Anybody out there using this or is there another, better, way. Thanks in advance for the input.
It's not what you have, but what you do with it that counts.
white vinegar
I started with a couple of gallons of white vinegar, and got an amazing amount of milky output after letting it sit overnight. And when I changed the thermostat, I simply chiseled away at what I could reach. There are also other products available, and I think that there has been discussion lately - try a search.

You might try a product called Marsolve:

The block on my Volvo MD7A was pretty much clogged, with the temp consistently in the red; after I cycled Marlsolve through it for two hours, the passages opened and the temp is now consistently in the green. You will also find a number of testimonials by searching the board for "Marsolve."

Thank you
Thanks for the responses. I had done a search, but turned up only 2002 information. I thought there might be something new out there, hence the post. I'll try both options....can't hurt and will certainly help.
